Massive investment in CCTV cameras to prevent crime in the UK has failed to have a significant impact, despite billions of pounds spent on the new technology, a senior police officer piloting a new database has warned. Only 3% of street robberies in London were solved using CCTV images, despite the fact that Britain has more security cameras than any other country in Europe

The question will always be this: did they think they could pay someone fifteen thousand pounds a year to simultaneously watch 8 of the least interesting reality TV shows in the universe? Did they think that would work?

It seems that this is belied a bit by the recent passing of the Blasphemy Law in Ireland. We can take it as read that this is a massive step backward from freedom of expression. And all for a victimless crime. The nice thing is that there is a backlash against this as well with commentary and with Irish atheists promising to test the law out. It boggles the mind that there’s even a debate about this sort of crap.

Ah, the sweet smell of dodgy bullshit

Sigh. Sky News just had a story onthe "choking game," a new internet driven craze where school kids choke each other until unconscious, for shits and giggles. There were any number of BS markers. First, the first victim died of autoerotic asphyxiation - not really the same thing. The second victim died 16 years ago. The tone of the piece was to give the impression that millions of kids were doing this, but they only had four clips to run in the background.
